Brief: to produce an A1 illustration, plus an illustration for an online exhibition, illustrating a significant event in the history of XL Recordings as part of their 25 year anniversary. I chose to celebrate Adele’s success of winning ‘Best Original Song at the 2013 Oscars for ‘Skyfall’.
Response: typographic, using the artist’s initial as the main focus. A lot of pressure and spotlight came with writing the theme for such an iconic film series, which is illustrated in the poster. It takes on the same visual language, mood, and feel as the event itself; royal and grand whilst reflecting the strength and success of Adele, taking on this challenge and shining through. The addition of a logo creates a brand for the event series which could be applied to other posters.
The illustration for the online exhibition supports and compliments the poster with the same visual language creating a recognizable connection.
